Nationwide Expands International LTC Benefits
Nationwide has announced a significant enhancement to its CareMatters II and CareMatters Together products, expanding eligible international long-term care benefits to 100% for policies issued on or after January 1, 2026.
The enhancement applies across qualifying care settings, including eligible informal care provided by family members, and eliminates the requirement to return to the United States to receive covered benefits.
The change is not retroactive to policies issued before January 1, 2026, and availability remains subject to state approval and applicable policy endorsements.
Nationwide has also introduced additional CareMatters II design options, including an eight-year benefit period, a 20-pay premium option, and an additional inflation protection option.
These enhancements provide greater flexibility for clients whose retirement or care plans may include living abroad.
OneAmerica Expands Asset Care Options
OneAmerica Financial has introduced additional flexibility within its Asset Care product suite, including a new three-year Acceleration of Benefits option for individual and joint policies.
Additional qualified-fund planning and funding options create more opportunities to structure long-term care protection around a client's retirement assets and financial objectives.
Partners are encouraged to review the updated product materials and consider where these options may offer an appropriate solution for clients.
Mutual of Omaha Updates LTC Underwriting
Mutual of Omaha has announced updates to its long-term care underwriting guidelines, including revisions to certain medical evaluation criteria and the availability of a digital cognitive assessment option for qualifying applicants.
These developments are a timely reminder of the importance of staying current with carrier underwriting requirements.
Careful field underwriting, appropriate prescreening, and early communication with underwriting teams can help reduce unnecessary declines and postponements while improving the client experience.
Medicare Annual Enrollment: An Important Opportunity to Serve
Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period is underway, running October 15 through December 7, 2026, for coverage beginning January 1, 2027.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) projects lower average Medicare Advantage premiums for 2027, while changes to prescription drug coverage, provider networks, out-of-pocket expenses, and individual plan benefits make annual reviews especially important.
For Medicare producers, this is an opportunity to reconnect with clients and ensure their coverage continues to meet their healthcare needs and financial circumstances. Review prescription medications, preferred physicians, pharmacies, and anticipated healthcare expenses rather than assuming last year's plan remains the best fit.
Premier Senior Marketing, an LTCPG partner resource, provides additional support for Medicare producers. Partners interested in Medicare products, contracting, or related assistance are encouraged to connect with Premier Senior Marketing through LTCPG.
